4/1/2023 0 Comments Call of cthulhu switchLovecraft, are packed with memorable monstrosities like shoggoths or Hounds of Tindalos. The Cthulhu Mythos: the pantheon of eldritch horrors first created by H.P. I think I'd like to run a couple sessions of pure CP, do the CoC one shot, have a couple sessions of mixed reality and then make players decide if we're closing the mythos doors, or is this something we all enjoy and would like to progress further. But the unique selling point of Nameless Horrors is that the unspeakable things encountered are not previously established monsters. I wonder if at some point we could reach a group paranoia, where they have a constant ear out to see if the switch has started, and combat is not a way to go currently. In the post-nuke Night City, where no animals are left (I'd like to make animals (both alive & synthetic) a rarity, similar to Blade Runner).Īt first the I'd just play dogs barking silently at the scenes I want to colour a bit, and would just see how long would it take them to notice. Meaning combat could be an option, but maybe not always the preferred one.īesides using distinct dice sets to make players know which setting is influencing the current scene the most, I was also thinking about appropriating the siren from Silent Hill series - but instead making players to hear dogs bark. If at some poinet players decide to fight with mythos beings (as they should, this still will be a cyberpunk adventure!) they'd roll the cthulhu set, and damage done to the mystical creatures could be heavily penalized. In my view most of the systems are capable of hosing most of the playstyles - as long as GM & the party agree on what kind of adventures they want to play out.Ĭurrently I'm planning on buying 2 very disticnt dice sets - one for cyberpunk setting, the other for cthulhu (with elder sign as one of the sides etc). I can't really agree on cyberpunk being incompatible. I've got a bit of time as I want to start with vanilla CP currently I'm trying to recall/rediscover how-to-DM and get to know the new world as it's a bit different than CP2020 (that was already outdated the last time I've played it). I was also thinking that this might be a nice way to allow my PCs to be decked out a little, and then introduce a whole new world where punching & shooting doesn't solve issues, so they have to break a sweat again.Īny suggestions, experiences and ideas are welcome. I don't have further plans as of yet, maybe they'll discover that Biotechenica had a couple breakthroughs based of Mi-Go physiology studies? Maybe the nuke that was detonated in Night City was actually an unsuccessful(?) summoning ritual for the one of Old Gods?Ĭurrently I've bought CP Red system and am reading through it, CoC elements would be a plugin to a mechanic of CP. Later on I was planning to going back to the core cyberpunk gameplay, but start to introduce subtle signs that not everything is the same as before. I'm not 100% of the CoC age, but 1990s look much more interestin than they did in 2000s, so maybe that's the direction I'll pick. After a couple sessions get players to go into arcade and play a VR game, which would basically be a Call of Cthulhu single shot. My basic idea right now is to start with a Cyberpunk Red (updated CP2020 version) campaign. I'm thinking about trying to mix them together. 2 systems I've always loved - and I acknowledge that they're a bit basic - are Cyberpunk2020 and Call of Cthulhu. I'm planning on getting back into DMing after a decade abstinence.
